GREAT CUSTARD GLASS!
What a great BIG piece of custard glass! This was made by Northwood and is the Louis the XV pattern. It features some nice florals and scrolls and GILDING!! Love to see gold on custard!
The bowl has no damage save for some gold loss... as expected! This is over 100 years old!!
I have one of these and use it as a bowl for apples this time of year, and Christmas balls around the holidays... custard glass is good, sturdy glass AND there is no iridescence (like you would have with carnival glass) that you could damage!! It's great stuff!!!
The bowl does sit on 4 feet and due to poor manufacturing conditions or cooling, it does rock a little bit... there are no chips or anything wrong with the feet as far as damage goes.
Custard glass looks FANTASTIC mixed with other Northwood glass, like its opalescent or carnival glass!
GREAT EARLY NORTHWOOD!
