George Clews Co Ltd Tunstall, 1906-1961 operating at the Brownhills Pottery, Stoke on Trent, England. More famous for the hand painted Chameleon Ware Art Pottery, this is a very simple dish which could be used for pot pourri, soaps, or flowers - whatever. The white eggshell glazed dish could be placed in any room of the house and not be out of keeping.
The mark on the base which is too faint to photograph is dated from 1947 to 1961 when the firm went into liquidation. You can look this up on thepotteries.org 5 1/2 inches high and 6 inches wide, no chips or cracks, just some slight discolouration on the inside. A nice piece, quite rare.
