This auction is for a very special offering......This is a Child's Set or also called a Miniature Set, it is a 5 piece Pitcher Tumbler group and it was produced in this fabulous Chocolate Slag Glass for a Limited Edition offering by the Moser Co., out of Cambridge, Ohio, in early 1980.
This Pitcher Set is stunning, it is not super small or tiny either, not like you would think for a Child's Set. This to me is a super offering as a Child's Set yes, but as a Chocolate Slag Glass offering possibly even better.
It is visually so appealing and gorgeous in all its detail and production. Moser does produce a contemporary blend of Glassware and has been doing so for the last 30 plus years. All collectors and Dealers are aware of their offerings, pretty glass for contemporary pieces if you like that type of glass. They don't have a huge array of products and this Pitcher Set is only offered in the Child's Set and they are now producing it in Carnival Purple. In the 1980's when this Set was made they a short surplus of the Chocolate Slag Glass to use for any pieces and they did so for some of these Sets, in this "Cherry" Pattern and only one or two other items, if that from what I was told by a Rep. for the company.
This Pattern is very pretty and so perfect for a Child's Set, the Pitcher is heavily detailed in the Pattern and it is deep impression. The Tumblers to this Set have an octagon shape with panels coming up the sides, there is a small star burst to the bottoms. The Caramel color with random chocolate swirls throughout it so beautiful.....I just love this Glass, no matter what the shape or pattern or purpose of the item, this glass itself is always a show stopper.
The Pitcher has the Moser hallmark on the bottom the Tumblers weren't ever marked in production. These are all in perfectly mint condition with no blemishes at all to any of them. This Set today sells for $28, and there is no record of what it sold for when produced, but these are now truly one of a kind items, never to be produced again, so their price is relative to its desire to be owned.
Please see the many photos of these beauties and if you love Chocolate Slag Glass you have to have this and if you collect the Child's/Miniature Sets well so much the better of an acquisition.
The measurements are: The Pitcher measures: 4" tall by 2 3/4" in diameter at the top and is 3" deep. The Tumblers measure: 2" tall by 1 1/2" in diameter at the top and 1 1/8" in diameter at the base and they are 1 3/4" deep.
